When it comes to aquarium plants, Bucephalandras and Anubias share many similarities despite their origins in Asia and Africa, respectively. Growing these aquatic plants follows similar guidelines.
One notable variety of Bucephalandra is the ‘Needle Leaf,’ which has slightly higher requirements compared to the ‘Diabolica’ and ‘Pygmaeae,’ but it remains an easy plant to cultivate. Providing additional CO2 and slightly increasing the light intensity can be beneficial. The emerged leaves of this plant are green, elongated, and slightly wavy, adorned with numerous tiny white dots. Each leaf is less than 0.5 cm wide and measures between 1 and 2 cm in length. Moreover, the youngest parts of the rhizome display an attractive red color. The growth rate of this plant is slow.
It is crucial not to cover the creeping rhizome during planting, as this can lead to rotting and eventual death of the plant.
