The Algae pad contains 2 inorganic buffers which help reduce and control the pH in garden ponds. A lowering of the pH will noticeably reduce the amount of green algae present. Environmental control is also achieved by removing nutrients from the water.
The Algae pad will trap nutrients from pond water. Enzymes will aid the breakdown of these nutrients and thus reduce algae growth. Natural extracts also help in the biological breakdown of suspended algae species.
TAPs 4 wat algae pad is impregnated with powerful flocculating agents quickly causing algae to clump together and sink to the bottom of the pond.
Place the Algae pad in any chamber of an external biological filter. The open cell properties and uniform structure of the pad ensure planktonic algae are trapped. Green water is thus removed from the pond.
Pad needs replacing every 3 months during the pond season and for heavy amounts of algae should be replaced monthly.
For ponds over 1100 gallons (5000 litres) use multiple pads.
If the pad becomes clogged with debris then wash under tap and return to filter box.
For ponds without a filter box, place pad in the pond and weigh down with a rock or stone. Algae pad will work if left floating but may look unsightly.
Do not exceed the stated number of pads as this may damage pond plants.
For ultimate control in Koi ponds without plants use 1 pad per 500 gallons (2250 litres)
