The dwarf gourami is a peaceful and shy fish. If you have a pair of them, the two fishwill often swim together. Dwarf Gourami’s prefer a well planted tank, also with some floating plants. It has been selectively bred into various brightly coloured strains. They can sometimes be territorial to other male gourami’s, so in a smaller tank it’s recommended to keep a single male.

The minimum tank size for three dwarf gourami’sis 35L. Youll likely need much larger tanks if youre planning on introducing some tank mates. They will spend most of their time in the top to middle layer of the water column.

The most ideal tank mates for the Dwarf Gourami would be fish that dwell near the bottom of the tank. They are a peaceful species that do well in a community aquarium. If keeping multiple gourami’s it is best to keep a ratio of 1 male to 2 females.

Gourami’s will accept all types of live, frozen, anddry foods. Feed flakes, and pellets, as well as frozen and live foods such as bloodworms, mosquito larvae, brine shrimp, and daphnia.

Afiltration systemis necessary for removal of waste and debris. Gourami’s do not like fast or strong water flow. Opt for an aquarium filter suitable for your fish tank size that cleans effectively, but offers the ability to reduce flow. If water current is to strong, use sturdy aquarium plants and ornaments to create areas of reduced water current for refuge.

This fish enjoy temperatures between 23 – 27 C. If you are unable to maintain this temperature naturally, use an aquarium heater. Aquarium heaters also stabilize water temperatures. A thermometer is recommended to monitor the water temperature.
