Cardamine lyrata (Japanese cress)

Cardamine lyrata is found in the marsh lands of Japan but adapts very well to life under water. In fact it grows very quickly and for this reason, it’s popular with hobbyists who want rapid growth in a short period of time (for example in the start up when uptake of nutrients is very important).

It’s very simple to grow and it will trail along your substrate. You will need to maintain it, simply trim and re-plant. In cooler temperatures the leaves are large and in warmer water, they become small.
