*This fish is a marine species*
Whitetail Pygmy Angelfish (Centropyge flavicauda) is a rare and captivating marine species prized by aquarists for its vivid coloration, small size, and peaceful nature. Endemic to the deep reef slopes of the Indo-Pacific, this dwarf angelfish is distinguished by its deep violet-blue body and bright white caudal fin. Its manageable care requirements and compatibility with other peaceful marine species make it a desirable addition to established reef aquariums.
Vibrant violet-blue body with striking white tail
Reaches up to 7 cm in length
Peaceful and shy disposition
Best kept singly or in established community setups
Hardy and adaptable when acclimated correctly
A minimum tank size of 100 litres is recommended for a single Whitetail Pygmy Angelfish. This provides enough space to swim, graze on live rock, and establish territory while maintaining stable water parameters. Larger tanks are advisable if kept in a community setting or with multiple species.

The Whitetail Pygmy Angelfish is generally peaceful but may become territorial in smaller tanks. It coexists best with other non-aggressive, similarly sized reef-safe fish. Suitable tank mates include:
Ocellaris Clownfish
Royal Gramma
Firefish Goby
Banggai Cardinalfish
Green Chromis
A varied, marine-based omnivorous diet is essential. Feed high-quality angelfish pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Supplement with marine algae, spirulina, and blanched vegetables to support colour and immune function. Offer small portions 23 times daily to mimic natural grazing.
Aquarium Filtration
Use a high-efficiency protein skimmer and biological filtration to maintain excellent water quality. Stable salinity (1.0201.025), pH (8.18.4), and ammonia/nitrite at zero are critical.
Aquarium Plants
Live macroalgae such as Chaetomorpha can be beneficial for water quality and grazing, though not essential.
Aquarium Lighting
Moderate lighting supports natural behaviour. Avoid overly intense lighting, which can cause stress in this deep-dwelling species.
