Prymax Marine Clear Seal

Prymax Marine Clear Seal is a moisture-cured polyurethane coating which gives a tough, high-gloss finish for wood, metal and concrete.

It has good resistance to solvents, oil and fuel, with excellent UV protection, and is ideally suited for marine and aquatic applications.

A specially formulated single pack moisture cured polyurethane sealer for sealing concrete rendered ponds under the water line, Prymax Marine Clear Seal should be used above the waterline and for paving around the pond. For damp proofing internal render, plaster, plasterboard and sealing dusty concrete floors, can be used externally on walls if overpainted to protect from UV. Can be used to coat internal woodwork.

Surface Preparation

All surfaces to be coated should be well-prepared, sanded and decreased. If coating concrete, it must be completely dry and porous.

Application

Prymax Marine Clear Seal should be applied by brush or airless spray. Do not spray in open air, as the overspray will bond on to surrounding surfaces and this cannot be removed.

Wood

When coating new hardwood, it is best to thin the first coat by adding 20% Clear Seal Thinners to allow a better penetration. A further two coats should then be applied, allowing the surface to become finger-tacky or touch-dry between the first and second coats. No more than 3 hours should be left between coats if more time elapses, the surface will need to be sanded before the next coat.

For best results when coating new softwood, allow each coat to dry and then sand down between coats to smooth the raised grain of the wood.

If coating over old varnish, two coats should suffice.

Metal

All existing coatings must be removed from the metal, and the surface must be thoroughly sanded and degreased.

Concrete

All concrete and brick surfaces must be completely dry and porous please note that new concrete and render takes up to 28 days to dry fully. To obtain a waterproof surface, repair any cracks in the concrete and allow to dry. Apply three coats of Prymax Marine Clear Seal, allowing each coat to become finger-tacky or touch-dry before applying the next. No more than three hours should be left between coats.

Coverage

• For wood and metal, allow 150m per square metre for each coat.
• For concrete and render, allow 200ml per square meter for each coat.

Prymax Marine Clear Seal is not suitable for application over household paints or gelcoat. Drying time 30 45 minutes.
