Axelrod’s Rainbow is one of the rarest PNG rainbows in the aquarium hobby. May look plain at first, but very attractive when settled: silvery-white overlaid with bold dark markings. It is generallyeasy to keep and suited for the beginner aquarist.

Theyare active swimmers and prefer to be kept in shoals of 6 or more in planted yet spacious aquariums. This species is native toPapua New Guinea.

Features of Axelrods Rainbowfish:

• Body colour of bluish-grey to greenish-brown on the upper halfand silver-grey or whitish on the lower half
• Dark to black lateral spots merging into a later bar towards the tail
• Yellow dorsal, anal and pelvic fins
• Peaceful community fish with fish of similar size & temperament.
• A larger Rainbowfish species reaching 10cm.

Diet:

Axelrod’s Rainbowfish are omnivore’s. They feed on algae and spirulina based foods. This species enjoy live foods such as bloodworms, blackworms and brine shrimp.
