Chromis – Barrier Reef

TheBarrier Reef Chromis is also known as the Yellow-Back Puller. They are suited for the beginner aquarist and tolerate similar conditions than that of the Blue Green Chromis. This species is uncommon in aquarium shops, making it a special addition to reef aquariums.

Native to reefsin theWestern Pacific off Australia from the Great Barrier Reef to Lord Howe Island.

The Barrier Reef Chromis is best kept in groups of 6 or more its own species. Due to its nature, it is compatible with many peaceful fish, invertebrates and corals.

Feeding:

Barrier Reef Chromis are omnivores so their diet should consist of a variety of foods such as larvae,brine shrimp and algae. Dry flakes and pellets can be provided as their main food source and will accept mysis shrimp and artemia brine shrimp. Ensure competition for food is limited to avoid bullying behaviours.

Barrier ReefChromis require a minimum tank size of approximately 115L. These fish prefer to live in groups so accommodate based on number of fish in the community. They also enjoy swimming and exploring.

Decorations for Barrier ReefChromis:

This species is peaceful but are also active swimmers. Ensure there is plenty space for swimming around the middle and top of the tank. Live rock is a great addition as these fish like to rest in small caves or crevices and pick on algae growing on rock.
